A new board for FECAVA

 

The latest FECAVA Council meeting was held at the FECAVA Eurocongress in Barcelona in October and was attended by the representatives of most of the companion animal veterinary associations in Europe as well as the FVE, UEVP and WSAVA Presidents.

Jerzy Gawor (Poland) was elected FECAVA President in Barcelona, replacing Monique Megens (Netherlands). Past President Simon Orr (UK) left the Board after nearly 20 years of service to the Federation while Belgium's Ann Criel (Belgium) was elected new Board member. Wolfgang Dohne (UK) and Denis Novak (Serbia) remain on board.

FECAVA awards

 

The FECAVA 2015 awards were presented on 16 October at the SEVC / FECAVA Eurocongress in Barcelona. Frédéric Goulle (Aquivet Clinic, France) won best article published in the European Journal of Companion Animal Practice (EJCAP), for his paper: Use of porcine small intestinal submucosa for corneal reconstruction in dogs and cats: 106 cases. The paper was originally published in the Journal of Small Animal Practice.

Yvonne van Zeeland and Nico Schoemaker (Utrecht University, Netherlands) won the FECAVA award for the best commissioned paper, Plumage disorders in psittacine birds - part 2: feather damaging behaviour.

The awards were presented by outgoing FECAVA president, Monique Megens and EJCAP Editor Karin de Lange.
